Alana Burns, a true Constitutional Conservative, understands the adage: “If you want something done, give it to a busy person.” She has been anxiously engaged in good causes her whole life, and those experiences have primed her for leadership in the Idaho State Legislature.

About Alana
BUSINESS SAVY
Alana believes in being fiscally conservative, and that government should operate like a business. The books should balance, “needs” should come before “wants,” and cutting unnecessary red tape helps communities thrive. Our precious tax dollars shouldn’t be used for wasteful spending or to expand the size of government.
From General Manager of a medical transportation company at just 24 years old, to becoming a Real Estate Broker and starting her own successful real estate brokerage (Guardian Realty) at the age of 29, Alana understands the plight of business owners. She has run successful businesses and learned firsthand the complexities of balancing a budget, being innovative and adaptive in ever-changing economic climates, and the ability to prioritize needs versus wants in an effort to be fiscally conservative.
In addition to running her real estate brokerage, Alana and her husband Travis operate their small construction company and an RV/Boat Storage company. Additionally, they renovate homes in an effort to provide updated, safe and quality housing for their community.

CURRENTLY DRAFTING LEGISLATION
Alana has been working for the past 9 months to create legislation that would protect all property owners in the Gem state against various forms of real estate fraud that threaten property ownership and property equity.
The Idaho Realtors Association is presenting Alana’s legislative solution to the Governor’s Affordable Housing Committee, and the IR legislative team plans to bring her proposed solution to legislative services to begin drafting the bill soon.
Alana isn’t an elected official yet but she’s already working in this role to protect Idahoans throughout the state, without being on the payroll.
ONGOING PHILANTHROPY
Alana prioritizes service opportunities and civic engagement in her family life because she believes service and civic duty are paramount to creating good work ethic, living a life with gratitude, and teaching the next generation important skills that will change the world for the better.
Alana worked alongside other volunteers to fundraise for and construct the all-abilities Maverik Caribou CommUNITY playground in Soda Springs 8 years ago, and also recently lead the second-phase efforts for this playground to fundraise for and install new shade covers, BBQ grills, commercial-grade picnic tables, shade trees and a vending machine at this park. This service project concluded in August 2025.
She has also been sponsoring the Stuffed Animal Sleepover at the Soda Springs Public Library for the past 5 years, served on the 4th of July Parade Committee for 2 years, and frequently picks up trash throughout the area. By small and simple things are great things brought to pass.

EDUCATION
Alana graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication and Marketing from Utah Tech University.
LEADERSHIP QUALITIES
Alana has developed several leadership qualities throughout the years that have prepared her for service in public office. She brings effective communication skills to the table that include: thorough interviewing and research skills, comprehension of complicated matters, persuasion and negotiation skills, and the ability to communicate to people through print, video, and social media platforms.
In public office, critical thinking skills are a must. Elected officials shouldn’t just be voting the way they’re told to vote by special interest groups and lobbyists. Alana brings this strength to her work on a daily basis.
While serving as Miss Nevada 2011 (for Miss America) Alana worked to make the political process more relatable for people of all backgrounds. She focused on reengaging people in the political process and encouraged voter registration and voter turnout.
She has always believed in maintaining civility despite political disagreement, and encourages collaboration over political-obstruction. Alana also spent her year as Miss Nevada facilitating service projects for members of the armed forces and their families.
PUBLIC RELATIONS & NEWS MEDIA SAVVY
Leaders must be able to communicate effectively through the media and on various online platforms in this day and age. It’s the most effective and timely way to keep people informed on the issues that matter most, and provides transparency on a regular basis.
Alana is effective in communicating through various modes of media and technology thanks to her time as a news anchor, reporter, and her time as Miss Nevada. She understands the importance of garnering public support of issues through effective use of these mediums, as well as using them to educate others about current events.
Alana regularly writes news articles for the regional newspaper addressing current events, spotlights on area businesses, informative columns about the real estate industry, progress updates for ongoing service projects, and most recently coverage for disaster relief efforts in Bancroft, ID after a slew of fires burned through the town.
Alana is transparent, informative, and thorough in her efforts to keep people informed because she has a firm belief that creating well-educated and informed people results in better outcomes for our communities at large.

POLITICAL BACKGROUND
From the age of 5 years old Alana was raised in a political household where her father served in the Nevada State Assembly, the Nevada State Senate, and as Mayor of North Las Vegas. He was endorsed by President Donald Trump in his final campaign running for Congress in 2024.
Because of her father’s outstanding leadership in each of these positions Alana was raised to understand how to: create and accomplish ambitious goals, navigate and engage a network of professionals in the political industry, and how to establish a focused approach towards success within the political realm. She has experience with door-knocking, fundraising, public speaking, public outreach through phone banks, and promoting patriotism.

As a legislator, Alana looks forward to bringing representation on behalf of all industries operating within her legislative district, including: education, mining, tourism, agriculture, real estate, entertainment, technology, energy, etc. She supports the Trump agenda and will work to Keep Idaho Great!
Alana will present her legislative solution to protect property ownership rights against various forms of real estate fraud as a formal Bill on the House floor this upcoming legislative session; and to ultimately work towards having her bill made into law under her leadership. She is eager to be a useful tool for her constituents in bringing about positive change throughout the district and state.
